How to install new brushes for Photoshop
So, you have downloaded a huge amount of different cool brushes and want to add them to your Photoshop. There are two variants of storing brushes. The first one is in standard Photoshop folder for brushes. Lets call it «regular » variant. And the second one is in any folder suitable for you. Lets call it as «temporary ».
In the former «regular» variant you should take the file containing brushes you need (with *.abr extension) and move it to Brushes folder, which path looks like \ Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Brushes. After this procedure run Photoshop, in the tools palette choose Brush, push on a button with a black triangle (item 1) in Options palette and after that on a black triangle in a circle (item 2) in pop-up presets palette.
You may see you brush set in the bottom part of pop-up palette (item 3). Lets select this brush. Photoshop asks as whether he should add these brushes to standard set or replace all brushes by new set. You may change brush size (item 4). Push the button Use Sample Size (item 5) if you want to recover the original brush size.
In the latter «temporary» variant you should just choose Load Brushes (item 6) in the middle part of Pop-up palette and specify path to your brush folder. Brushes will be loaded to the end of the list. If you choose Replace Brushes (item 7) you may replace all current brushes by new set. To return the default brush set select Reset Brushes (item 8). |
